This is an in-depth discussion of techniques used to evaluate and treat dysfunctions in both the visual and vestibular systems. The course highlights the importance of the multidisciplinary approach to better integrate the visual and vestibular systems in a patient's daily life and provides case examples to encourage understanding.

Rebecca Bliss, PT, DPT

Dr. Bliss graduated from Ithaca College Department of Physical Therapy with a combined undergraduate-graduate Master of Physical Therapy in 2001. She completed her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Des Moines University in 2014 and is currently in dissertation phase of her Doctorate of Health Science (DHSc) from University of Indianapolis.

Dr. Bliss has been actively practicing in the field for 18 years with specialization in Adult Neurological Rehabilitation, recently receiving her NCS in 2016. She holds her Neurodevelopmental Treatment (NDT) of the Adult Hemiplegic Certification from NDTA and Certificate of Vestibular Rehabilitation from the APTA along with Advanced Practice in Vestibular Rehabilitation and Comprehensive Concussion Management Certificate. She specializes in treatment of individuals with Concussion, specifically vestibulo-ocular dysfunction and teaches continuing education courses regarding current management of these patients nationwide. Dr. Bliss is also an Impact Trained Physical Therapist Certificate holder.

Dr. Bliss is an Assistant Professor in the Doctorate of Physical Therapy Program at Wingate University, predominately teaching content in neurological rehabilitation and serves as the Co-director of the Neurological Residency Program. Her research interests include dysfunction of the vestibular ocular reflex following mild traumatic brain injury as well as early detection of impairments that lead to post-concussion syndrome.

Ashley Reddell, OD, FCOVD

Dr. Ashley S. Reddell graduated optometry school from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN in 2009. Upon graduating she stayed in Memphis to complete a residency in pediatrics and vision rehabilitation. She found a permanent home in Leavenworth, Kansas where she co-owns Family EyeCare Center and the MVP: Movement, Vision, Performance Center. She was Young OD of the Year for the Kansas Optometric Association in 2015 and a member of the American Optometric Association’s Sports Vision and Vision Rehab Sections, Optometric Extension Program Foundation, and Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association. She is a member and fellow of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development. She has authored an optometry textbook chapter regarding management of the special needs population. Dr. Ashley works with clinics across the Kansas City metro as part of multiple post-concussion multi-disciplinary teams and co-managing with PTs, OTs, SLPs, Sports Medicine, Audiology, and Neurology.
